I just turned 20 on the 21st of June but I am well aware of the life my choices create for me as I am of a cautious heart from life experiences and keeping a wide opened ear.

I am glad to have read this information because being young it helps and encourages me to enjoy the actions of being wise rather than travel the way of my youthful satisfaction; knowing where it puts you at the end of a short rope.

So while I will make wise choices and take this advice can be satisfied as I become older.

'WISDOM HAS NO AGE, IT IS A CHOICE AND A DIRECTION WE CHOOSE IN OUR LIFE. KNOW THAT IT IS BETTER TO CHOOSE TO LISTEN TO WISDOM AND BE WISE THAN TO EXPERIENCE FOLLY AND LEARN LATER FROM IT. WISDOM CAN GUIDE YOUR LIFE BUT YOU FALL INTO EXPERIENCE AND WHEN YOUR EXPERIENCE IS PAST YOU ARE SOMEWHERE YOU WISH YOU HAD NOT BEEN. NOW IT IS GROUND 0 WHEN IT COULD ALREADY HAVE BEEN A TOWER OF LIFE AND ABUNDANCE.'

1. Why do people care what I am doing every minute of the day? Maybe I have low self-esteem (I don't think I do), but I do not understand why anyone would want to know that I am at work, or I am eating lunch, or I am looking out my window avoiding work (I have a lovely view).
2. Do I want people to know what I am doing every minute of the day? There was a time (I am old enough to remember it) when if we weren't at home and someone called, they missed and had to call back another time. Before cell phones, pagers, and even answering machines. Civilization still survived (some might say thrived).
3. Who has time to constantly tweet? If I am spending more time tweeting about what I am doing than actually doing it, how am I going to get it done or enjoy it?
My 3 cents from a grumpy, old man.

Wow. Reading that list was like being inside my mother's head. It burns. I'm fine now. Really. I am. What are you looking at? ;-)

Excellent post, my friend. It makes me feel good knowing I'm on the right track with my kids.

Thank you Tom, for sharing. And yes, I'm of the belief that children need to learn both sides of competition. It is the parent's responsibility to demonstrate and teach coping mechanisms so that their children can adjust to the realities of life.

Too often many parents believe that their children are extensions of their persons (egos) and as a result put them under undue stress to succeed.

Well done as always. I am assuming you are of the belief that children should experience losing, as in if they are part of a little league team; it is OK to have a winner and a loser in the game so they learn how to win and lose in life correctly.

I also like Point 7 about an allowance. When I turned 6, I was given a weekly allowance with an increase in my chore load (responsibilities). I was also given a bank account to put my allowance in. Imagine banks allowing kids to start a savings account with only 25 cents these days? My allowance (and chores) steadily increased each year until I was 14 when I could get a paper route. At that point, I no longer got an allowance so I got a paper route. At 16 when I could get working papers, I was told I now had to "pay rent". So I had to get a part time job. I believe my "rent" money went into my college fund, but the lesson was something that has helped me to this day (I'm now 40). I didn't like it at the time, but I am very thankful for it now.

WOW!!! I am thankful that I can steal this and use it at my families' Thanksgiving when we all go around and say what we are thankful for. Just change 4 year old to dog and I'm set.

Your white space comment became white noise to me. I did not add white space to try and make my resume bigger. If anything, I agree concise is always better. AS for the email address, yes I agree it should not be unprofessional. I had an email address of thomaspshay@aol.com. This is probably fine for most jobs. In IT however, aol does = 1990's.
